Last week, we started to share some of the amazing day trips we’ve been blessed to have experienced. This week, we’ll continue to share some of these wonderful experiences.
Alabaster Caverns State Park
First on our continuing list of amazing day trips is the Alabaster Caverns State park. Located in Freedom Oklahoma, this low-key adventure offers one of the largest natural gypsum caverns in the world. You can even take a guided tour through the caverns which takes about 40-50 minutes. Inside the caves is absolutely gorgeous with man-made walkways to ensure safety.
Davis Oklahoma
Next stop on our list is Davis Oklahoma. Established on November 16, 1898, this small town nestled in the Arbuckle Mountains offers beautiful vantage points and amazing mountain waterfalls. Additionally, Davis is also home to the 400-acre Arbuckle Wilderness, where visitors can experience an up-close encounter with wildlife such as Bison, Zebras, and even camels.
Dallas/Amarillo
Rounding out the last 2 locations are Dallas and Amarillo Texas. Dallas offers several family friendly options to choose from. These include the Dallas Zoo and the Museum of Illusions Dallas.
Amarillo Texas is home to one of the craziest food challenges in America. Over at the Big Texan Steak Ranch is where you’ll find the 72-ounce steak challenge. Here, challengers must finish the entire meal within an hour or pay the full price of the meal ($72). This includes shrimp cocktail, salad, baked potato, and of course a 72-ounce steak.
Other attractions Amarillo has to offer are the surreal Cadillac ranch and a chance to stroll down the infamous Route 66. These locations are a sight to see in person. This is an excellent choice for a weekend day trip.
Well everyone, that’s all we have for this week. I hope you enjoyed seeing our day trip adventures. This is Fritz Thompson wishing you the best and safe travels!
