Hello everyone! This week we would love to share amazing weekend day trips. These awesome day trips weren’t long but that didn’t make them any less memorable.
When we first got to Oklahoma, we wanted to see what this area had to offer. We were pleasantly surprised on the number of locations that offered a great daytime getaway.
Wichita Wildlife Refuge & Mt. Scott
Our first location we got to visit was the Wichita Wildlife Refuge. Our first memory of Oklahoma was driving through the refuge and witnessing a stampeding herd of Bison along the mountainside. This set the tone of our tenure here as adventurous, with plenty to explore. As we continued to drive through the captivating landscape, we encountered several of the local wildlife. This included the infamous longhorn, several more Bison, and even some prairie dogs.
The Wichita Wildlife Refuge offered spectacular views of the natural landscape. Spanning over 59,0000 acres, there is no shortage of terrain to explore. This coupled with the nearby Mt. Scott offers an absolutely breathtaking view of the surrounding area.
Medicine Park
Nestled in a quaint & cozy town, Medicine Park is definitely worth the visit. This little bustling town is usually home to many special events in the area. Even better, it offers a number of restaurants and shops that all family members can enjoy. On top of that, Medicine Park is also home to a riverwalk that encourages visitors to enjoy the outdoor scenery.
Quartz Mountain State Park
Rounding out this week’s list of attractions is Quartz Mountain State Park. This beautiful location doesn’t have to be just for one day as this state park offers both lodging and camping options if desired. This gorgeous cluster of hills and mountains surrounds an almost mirror like lake.
Again, thank you so much for your time and support. Please make sure you check back in for Part 2 of our awesome day trips. This is Fritz Thompson wishing you the best and safe travels!
