Visiting a Southern Icon

This week I’ll tell you guys about how my wife surprised me by visiting a southern icon, the Buffalo Trace Distillery.

Summertime has been weird for the past couple of years. It’s not that I and my wife don’t enjoy our summertime here, it’s that in the summer months she doesn’t have work, so she makes her way back to the Northeast. Last year I missed the chance to experience the drive back with her so this year I made sure to put my leave in early enough that there would be nothing stopping me from accompanying her on the journey back.

Imagine my surprise when we made a stop in Frankfort, Kentucky and my wife announced that we were going on a distillery tour of the one of my favorite bourbons, the Buffalo Trace Distillery.

Buffalo Trace Distillery offers a captivating journey into the world of bourbon and whiskey production. This site offers a blending of history, craftsmanship, and enjoyment. The distillery boasts a rich legacy dating back to the late 18th century. Because of that, it makes it one of the oldest continuously operating distilleries in the United States.

Visitors can revel in guided tours that unravel the intricate whiskey-making process. This can be anywhere from the selection of grains to the aging of barrels and everything in between. The highlight is witnessing the impressive bourbon aging in the renowned Warehouse C, a colossal aging warehouse. It has become known for its distinct atmosphere and aging magic.

The distillery’s beautiful grounds, complete with historic buildings and lush landscapes, create an enchanting setting for exploration. The complimentary tours, which often include tastings of their award-winning bourbons, provide a sensory experience that educates and delights.

Moreover, for those seeking an exclusive experience, the distillery offers specialty tours. Tours like the Hard Hat Tour delve even deeper into the inner workings of production. The overall ambiance, the rich history, and the opportunity to savor some of the finest bourbons make Buffalo Trace Distillery a must-visit destination. Not just for the whiskey enthusiasts but also history buffs and travelers interested in visiting a southern icon like this.

That’s all I have for this week’s adventure. This is Fritz Thompson thanking you for joining us and wishing you safe travels!
